Parents
Parents are the most important ingredient in a
successful youth ministry. They have more
influence on their kids than peers or ministry
staff could ever have. Don’t hold your breath
waiting for your teenagers to admit this, but we
want you to know that we know it! Because we
understand the power of parents we want you to
know what is going on in the Youth Ministry. We
are honored that you trust us to make an
investment in their lives. We welcome parent
volunteers to help with weekly meetings and
events.
We send lots of email and snail mail along with
regular newsletters. You can also find our
current youth newsletter and calendar on the
church web site at www.lextumc.org.
Reaching
out to all youth grades 6-12...
With weekly Sunday afternoon Youth meetings and
other special events each month, Trinity
provides opportunities for Fun/Fellowship,
Mission Service, Christian Education, and
Worship opportunities for all middle and high
school youth. It is our prayer that our youth
ministry reaches out to our community as well as
Trinity‘s youth. Special Events include
Cook-outs and Pool parties, Ice Skating,
Lock-ins, Snow tubing, bowling, movie nights,
concerts, day trip to Kings Dominion, and much
more. Weekly Sunday afternoon Youth Group
meetings from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, include games,
short talks and small group discussions,
contemporary worship and a light meal.
Growing
in faith...
The Middle and High School years are a time for
youth to actively explore their faith and
embrace it as their own. Trinity provides
discipleship opportunities to help kids grow
closer to God as they study His Word. Annual
Confirmation Classes and weekly Sunday School
classes provide opportunities for discussion and
the exploration of the tenets of Christianity.
Youth Bible studies and events such as Middle
School Retreat High School Retreat, District
Youth Retreat, and Awakening give youth a place
to discuss the life application of Christianity
and to learn how to “walk the talk.”
Serving
our church, the community, and the world...
Trinity’s youth participate in our worship
services and serve in leadership positions in
the local church, district and the conference.
Youth have the opportunity to serve on local,
regional, national and international mission
teams. This past summer
Trinity youth served on a number of mission
teams including “Project Transformation”,
Waynesboro, VA; Habitat for Humanity, to “Impact
Richmond”, July 16-22nd to remodel
homes for the needy; and to Saint Vincent to
provide VBS to children.
Celebrating
the wonder of our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ...
We worship God and our Savior in all that we do
– through song, prayer, service, and fellowship.
Youth participate in the youth bell choir,
praise band, drama team, and sing in the choir.
PARTNER in Youth Ministry Opportunities—there
are several ways for adults to serve in the
youth program:
1. Supporter—this is usually
for single events, with designated jobs and
limited preparation. Some examples are: snacks,
driving, cleaning, shopping, music, movie night
host, maintain data base, promotional activities
and prayer team.
2. Friend—This would also be
for single events, but with more interaction
with the youth, and could span an entire event.
Some examples: chaperone lock-in, attend
retreats, camping, driving to and from and
attending concerts and/or special events.
3. Ministry Partner—This
person is involved in regular participation at
youth activities, and builds relationships with
the youth. Examples: assist at weekly youth
group meetings, give talks, lead small group
discussions, teach or assist in Sunday school,
lead drama team, lead praise band, lead teen
bell choir, lead drama team, plan individual activities, lead
games, coordinate worship music and participate
in special event planning.
4. Team Leader—This
individual is integrally involved in all aspects
of Trinity’s Youth Ministry. He/she leads
specific youth ministry sections, has strong
relationships with youth, meets regularly with
Youth Director, and participates in special
event planning. Some examples are: Middle School
Youth Group Leader, High School Youth Group
Leader, Small Group Coordinator, Sunday School
Coordinator.
